When award-winning Argentinean filmmaker Poli Martínez Kaplun decides to delve into her family history, she makes a surprising discovery. In old family photo albums are forgotten images of her great-grandfather, a German-Jewish philosopher persecuted by the Nazis. Digging deeper, she learns that her family was forced to flee Berlin, moving first to Egypt, then Switzerland, and finally to Argentina, where they hid their Jewish identity to get entry papers. Poignant questions of identity and resilience are brought to life as Poli confronts her mother and aunts about their hidden Jewish past. Eighty years after her family’s flight from Germany, she returns to their family house on Wannsee Street, just a few feet from the site where the Wannsee Conference decreed the Final Solution for the Jews of Europe.
