Beth Shalom Synagogue is seeking a highly organized and personable Office Administrator to join our team. This part-time role is essential to the smooth operation of our synagogue, providing administrative support and ensuring a welcoming environment for congregants and guests. The Office Administrator will manage clerical tasks, maintain our membership database, assist with event logistics, and support communication efforts.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills, and enjoys working in a community-focused environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Manage general clerical tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, filing, and handling correspondence.
  • Member Services: Maintain and update the synagogue’s membership database (ShulCloud), assist members with inquiries, and prepare monthly membership reports.
  • Communication: Collect materials for the monthly bulletin, coordinate with external vendors, and help manage synagogue communications via email, website, and social media.
  • Event Support: Assist with logistics for synagogue events, including lifecycle events and religious holidays, and provide administrative support for fundraising efforts.
  • Customer Service: Serve as a point of contact for congregants and guests, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere within the synagogue.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in office administration or a related role is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and office management software.
  • Experience with membership databases (such as ShulCloud) is a plus.
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Familiarity with Jewish customs and synagogue operations is beneficial but a Jewish background is not required.

Working hours:

  • Part-time, 20 hours per week, with flexible hours (core hours: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.).
  • Some evening or weekend availability may be required for special events.
