In this course we begin with an exploration of the very concept of Jewish art and discover how private collections of Judaica led to the first public exhibitions of Jewish art.

Other topics we will discuss include the concept of “us” vs “them”; how the selected   artists responded to bias through their art; how the works of these artists demonstrates diversity within Jewish communities; art as a means to collect, preserve, and share the history of the fight against discrimination and racism; and how art kindles intercultural dialogue.

Selected artists are both international and local and may include some you may know...personally!
