Judaism and Islam
Instructor: Rabbi David Kunin
Wednesdays, October 6 — November 10, 2021
The class with examine the long history of interaction between Judaism and Islam. Theologically the two religions are closely related, with many unexpected connections. We will examine both the similarities and differences. We, will, however, focus on our shared history. Jewish communities reached heights, nearly unmatched, under the crescent of Islam. For a millennium it was far safer to be Jewish under Islam, then under Christianity. Sadly today, much of this history has been forgotten, but if it can be rediscovered it can provide hope for our shared future.
