Birthright Israel

Embark on a transformative journey with Birthright Israel!

Join thousands of young Jewish adults, between the ages of 18 and 32, on a free, 10-day educational adventure to explore the beauty, history, and culture of Israel. From ancient landmarks to vibrant cities, immerse yourself in a journey that deepens your Jewish identity, creates lifelong connections with Israel, and strengthens your bond with the global Jewish community. Don't miss this opportunity of a lifetime to experience Israel like never before.

Trips take place at various times throughout the year and registration happens quickly. The summer trips take place between May and August, while the winter trips take place in December and January. You can pre-register to start your winter and/or summer application and get a head start before full registration.

Birthright Israel is free for participants thanks to a unique partnership between the people of Israel through their government, Canadian Jewish communities, and leading Jewish philanthropists. Through the United Jewish Appeal, Jewish Federation of Edmonton plays an important role in making experiences like Birthright Israel possible for the next generation of Jewish leaders.

Volunteer with Birthright Israel

Are you a Jewish adult between the ages of 18 and 50 looking for a hands-on way to support Israeli communities? The Birthright Israel Volunteer Program, offered in partnership with the Jewish Federations of North America, provides a unique opportunity to make a real impact while deepening your connection to Israel.

This eight to 14 day immersive experience allows participants to contribute directly to Israeli society through meaningful volunteer work. Whether you're helping with agricultural projects, distributing food, rebuilding infrastructure, or offering hands-on aid, your efforts will support communities in need and foster solidarity.

What’s included

  • Program fee to pay: $600 CAD (for participants from North America and other regions)
  • Round-trip transportation to volunteer sites within Israel
  • Shared accommodations (three participants per room)
  • Daily breakfast or a food stipend
